Good Guy Keanu Reeves strikes again.
This time he’s looking to help a worthy cause while also giving a lucky fan a once in a lifetime experience.
For a Good Cause
At 55 years old, the actor is still one of the most eligible bachelors in Hollywood. And even if you can’t be the future Mrs. Reeves, you can still score a date with the ‘John Wick’ star.
That is if you enter the auction set up by Camp Rainbow Gold. Titled ‘15 Minutes of Fame with Keanu Reeves’, the prize would give the winning bidder the chance to converse with Reeves via Zoom video chat.
The auctioneers estimate the date’s value at $10,000. Fans of the beloved actor have already gone well past that, though, as the current bid is now at $17,400.
While that may seem like a huge price to pay for just 15 minutes of Reeves’ time, rest assured that it’s all going to charity. Camp Rainbow Gold works with cancer-diagnosed children and their families living in Idaho.
Close to Home
Although the actor has surely cemented his reputation as an all-around good guy, you might still be wondering why he would pick to help this specific cause.
You see, Camp Rainbow Gold’s mission hits close to home for the ‘Speed’ actor. His younger sister Kim battled with leukemia (cancer of the blood) for about a decade.
Reeves reportedly became her primary caretaker during that time. Fortunately, Kim has since entered remission and seems to be in great health now.
The life-changing event prompted the actor to quietly donated and supported various cancer-related charities. Some sources even say that Reeves created his own foundation, which supports cancer research and hospitals, in honor of his sister.
More of Keanu
If you don’t have the budget to bid on a 15-minute date with Reeves, you can still see more of him as he gears to resume his iconic role as Neo in the upcoming Matrix 4 film.
The actor has already expressed his excitement to be working with writer-director Lana Wachowski once again. He’s also given some hints on what might happen in the continuation of the original sci-fi trilogy, saying how moviegoers would ‘take some nourishment’ from the film’s story.
Matrix 4 is currently slated for release in 2022 .
