Airports aren’t really known for being the most accommodating of all places. After all, it’s just a stop that connects us to our final destination, right?
Well, what if we tell you that there’s an airport in New York state that’s so beautiful it could easily pass for a Colorado ski chalet?
Million Air’s Newest Terminal
That’s exactly what Million Air’s newest private jet terminal in the Westchester County Airport looks like.
Located just 30 miles from Manhattan, the terminal spans 22 square feet and promises the trappings of luxury travel to its affluent clientele. The catch though is that you can only access it if you have a private plane at your disposal.
Million Air HPN is one of the five fixed-based operator facilities currently running in the Westchester County Airport, which itself is one of the busiest airports for private flying.
Unique Features
While most airports have a reputation for their cold and utilitarian design, Million Air HPN boasts of having a unique aesthetic. Designed in the Adirondack-style, it features unusual airport sights like high-vaulted ceilings, rustic chandeliers, and stone fireplaces.
The great room, which serves as a lounge for travelers waiting for their flight, is the centerpiece of the terminal’s interiors. It’s filled with comfortable leather couches, chairs, and tables. Flyers can also satisfy their caffeine cravings at the in-house Starbucks Coffee bar.
Going up to the second floor of the facility, you’ll find more seating areas as well as conference rooms for business executives on the go. Million Air HPN reportedly has three conference rooms.
Keeping up with the relaxing resort-style that the terminal’s designers were going for is the golf simulator, which takes up an entire upper floor room.
Big Investment
And it’s not only the private jet owners who are well taken care of. Their aircraft also seem to be in good hands.
Million Air HPN has a 50,400-square-foot hangar, which can house jets as large as a Gulfstream G650ER inside.
Hangars like this are reportedly often the money-makers for private terminal operators, especially during wintertime. Keeping aircraft in a hangar helps in eliminating the expensive costs of deicing airplanes.
Million Air spent over $70 million building the facility and took 20 months to finish. The company, which was founded in 1984 by the Mary Kay Cosmetics family, plans on recouping its huge investment through the various tenant and parking fees they collect from their clients.
