Spotify is proving to be a strong contender in the audio streaming sector. One proof of this is the recent all-time high its stock price saw.
The surge was recorded on June 18 when the company’s shares reached $229 during the trading day. And although it closed at $209.79, Spotify still marked a 50% gain this year despite the panic caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Even more interesting is the person that may have helped the audio streaming platform achieve the feat.
Exclusive Deals
As you may have heard, Spotify has been busy inking lucrative deals with big names in the entertainment industry. One of them is the reality star and social media influencer Kim Kardashian.
Kardashian recently signed on a deal for an exclusive podcast for Spotify. The news was reported just a day before the Sweden-based company’s impressive stock market performance.
Another thing that may have helped Spotify reach new heights is the announcement of a new partnership with Warner Bros. and DC Comics. The collaboration would reportedly focus on the production of exclusive podcasts.
Kim K’s Mission
Going into more detail, Kardashian’s upcoming collaboration with Spotify would revolve around her advocacy for criminal justice reform in the United States. Television producer Lori Rothschild Ansaldi would reportedly be co-hosting and co-producing the program.
So far, sources say that the case of Kevin Keith, a man who maintains his innocence as he remains on death row for allegedly committing three murders, would be focused on.
The podcast is anticipated to premiere in September 2020 on Spotify.
The deal with Kardashian is only one of the many inked and still in the world as the streaming service aspires to rival Google and Apple as a podcast platform.
Superheroes Come to Spotify
Meanwhile, Spotify’s deal with DC Comics would involve the creation of narrative podcasts based on existing characters in the popular comics and related film franchises produced by Warner Bros.
The exact details of the deal surrounding content and the costs of acquiring rights to the characters remain undisclosed. Spotify promised to share more on the specifics of the superhero podcast in the future though.
For now, DC fans can continue to anticipate upcoming DC films like ‘The Batman’ and ‘The Flash,’ which would be coming out in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
