Los Angeles is one of the most expensive places to live in the United States. The best houses in the land of the stars often come with multimillion-dollar price tags that only celebrities and wealthy businessmen can afford.
But did you know that there are neighborhoods in L.A. that are so exclusive that having money isn’t enough to get you in surely?
That’s what makes ‘Modern Family’ star Sofia Vergara’s recent mansion purchase even more impressive.
Beverly Park Mansion
The American-Colombian actress just snagged a $26 million residence in the gated community of Beverly Park with her actor husband Joe Manganiello. The couple reportedly even got a $4 million discount from the property’s original asking price of $30 million.
In case you didn’t know, Beverly Park is one of the most exclusive enclaves in L.A. Not only that, but it’s also the highest-earning neighborhood in La-La Land with a median household income of $502,440, according to Curbed.
Vergara and Manganiello’s new estate spans 17,000 square feet and offers views of Beverly Hills nearby. The mansion itself features Tuscan-inspired designs mixed with modern living.
Some of its most notable features are its hand-painted murals, soaring ceilings, and Italian travertine floors. The mansion has seven bedrooms and more additional rooms in the separate two-story guesthouse.
Rare Sale
You see, unlike other affluent neighborhoods in the city, Beverly Park doesn’t have a turnover of homeownership that often. Residents tend to hold onto their residences for a long time.
Vergara’s newly bought mansion seems to be one of the rare exceptions, though. The home has changed owners five times within the past six years.
Perhaps its most notable resident before Vergara is Diana Chen, a Chinese billionaire who has earned the nickname ‘Steel Princess.’ She owned the property from 2002 to 2014.
Sofia’s Holdings
Vergara has notably bought a number of expensive real estate properties before. One of these is a $1 million three-bedroom apartment, which she has put on the market for rent.
The place is going for a hefty $10,200 a month.
There’s also her 11,400-square-foot mansion in Beverly Hills, which she bought for $10.6 million back in 2014. This is reportedly where she and Mangianello lived following their wedding in 2015.
The residence features its own movie theater and a 3000-bottle wine cellar.
