In case you missed it, a new kind of outdoor activity gained traction a few years ago. Mixing resort-style accommodations with traditional camping, glamping sought to attract nature lovers who aren’t big on the dirty side of camping.
Now, the design studio Nomadic Resorts is looking to take the activity to the next level as they plant the ‘seeds’ for a hospitality revolution.
The Seedpod
Thus, the Seedpod was born.
The cocoon-shaped structure is a mix between a tent and a treehouse. And it’s now being pegged as a potential to some of the travel issues that popped up after the coronavirus pandemic hit.
You see, Seedpods can function sort of like a pop-up resort except much cheaper than the regular hotel room you’ll find there. It’s also quite a step up from a regular tent as it offers more amenities.
However, you’ll have to invest a hefty amount to get yourself one of these innovative tents. Nomadic Resorts is currently selling them for $3,400.
Natural Design
The cocoon-like design of the Seedpod isn’t just an indicator of its designer’s eco-conscious vision. It’s also a tactical decision that allows the tent to resist wind speeds of up to 75 miles per hour.
Inside, you’ll find all of the basic things you might need while you’re away from the comforts of your own home. The Seedpod is equipped with lights, a charging station, and a ceiling fan.
The sleeping area can also be transformed into a sitting area during the daytime. Just move around the pillows and table inside and you can transform the space to work for you whether you’re eating or just lounging.
But with limited room to move around, as the tent is only seven feet in diameter, you’d find it best for sleeping.
Nomadic Lifestyle Companion
According to Neil Henrikz, COO of Nomadic Resort, they wanted the Seedpod to be something that can be built by manpower alone within a day. He also said that the studio created it to last for at least a decade.
The Seedpod can be put up with only a few people working and even without tools. This allows people to set up camp even in the most remote of locations only accessible through hiking.
And for people worried about keeping the tent hygienic, the Seedpod can be disinfected quickly given its small size.
